Is Vaping Healthier Than Smoking?

Is Vaping Healthier Than Smoking?
May 23, 2019Diet and LifestyleGeneral HealthLungs

The effect of smoke on your lungs and heart can be anywhere from mildly harmful to fatal for a regular or habitual smoker. With the extensive propagation of vaporizers in the market in the recent years, vaping has become the preferred choice for many. Many vaporizer companies are promoting this technology as being significantly healthier than smoking. But is vaping really healthier for you than cigarettes or any other nicotine-containing smoke?

What Experts Say

According to the American Cancer Society, there are many kinds of tobacco in the market, and people usually think that some do not cause any health problems. But this is not true; there is no safe form of tobacco which would not harm your health in one way or the other. The reason why these myths persist is the lack of knowledge. Vaping too, for that matter, is not completely harmless as some would claim.

According to studies, eliminating smoke and/or vapor is the healthiest route to minimize any lung, respiratory, or heart damage that might have already occurred. Putting nothing in your lungs is any day better than inhaling smoke or vapour – even from a vaporizer.

What You Should Know

You should be aware that any combustible when lighted, would emit respiratory irritants whether it is smoking or vaping. A vaporizer allows the user to circumvent inhaling the potentially toxic by-products because vaporizing holds the temperature much lower. So apparently you would have few unwanted particles wafting around your lungs. And you might breathe in more of the active ingredient.

How Vaping Affects Your Health

There could be possible health concerns with vaping as the products used by many companies are not regulated and might contain glue or toxic materials that can be inhaled by the user and affect the lungs directly.

When the solution in these vaporizers is heated, it releases acetaldehyde andformaldehyde – which are known toxins. The flavourings in the solutions can also be toxic.

Studies have shown that e-cigarettes can begin short-term lung changes that are much like those caused by cigarettes. But long-term health effects are still unclear. This is an ongoing area of research; the safety of these products is still dubious.

Conclusion

We do not recommend e-cigarettes and other vapor products to help people quit smoking because it is not yet apprehended if they are safe and effective.
