Healthy Habits That Can Keep Your Heart Healthy

Healthy Habits That Can Keep Your Heart Healthy
May 23, 2019Diet and Lifestyle

While many people know that healthy practices are good for overall health, it sometimes can become difficult to make the required lifestyle changes. Most people lead busy & sedentary lives. This is why several people find it challenging to follow a recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week.

Small Efforts Have Big Benefits

Moderate exercise does not fundamentally mean 4 hours a week on the treadmill or any exercise machinery.

Rather, consider different ways in which you can perform the physical activity as a routine part of your day. Every small effort counts – walking around the office, walking the dog, or using staircase rather than elevators or escalators.

In this way, the body is getting a bit of exercise, regularly, which is beneficial for health in the long run.

Inculcate These In Your Everyday Schedule

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Get up from your chair every 2 – 3 hour at work and take a short walk.
  • Stretch or exercise your legs while sitting & watching TV.
  • Follow a healthy diet with limited saturated and trans fats, salt, and processed sugars.
  • Limit alcohol consumption.
  • Avoid or quit smoking.

If you can adapt these healthy habits, the path to a healthier heart becomes easier. Preventing conditions such as hypertension and diabetes is a much more practical way of avoiding heart disease than having medications to treat them once the disease has already established itself.

It is never too late to start with a healthy lifestyle for a healthy heart and a prosperous life.
