5 Things to Keep in Mind Before Starting a Workout Plan

5 Things to Keep in Mind Before Starting a Workout Plan
April 4, 2020ArticlesDiet and Lifestyle

Being fit & healthy demands efforts and determination, one needs to follow a proper diet and workout plan. Although it is a great step to decide to start a workout program, there are a few things to keep in mind before starting. Everything done in a systematic manner impacts you in a positive way, but if the wrong procedure is followed, it is more of harm than gain. Here are 5 things that you need to be careful about while commencing a new workout regime.

  1. Nutrition and exercise go hand in hand

You require a high amount of energy for your workout sessions which you’ll get only through proper nutrition. What you eat before, during and after your exercise can affect how well you perform. Although a healthy balanced diet is the key, food items rich in carbohydrates should be consumed to fuel up your workouts since they are high sources of energy.

  1. Pre- workout warm up is important

Warm up exercises are crucial not only to prepare our body mentally and physically for the entire routine, but also to avoid injuries. Performing warm up exercises increases the blood flow to the muscles and loosens them up, thus increasing the supply of oxygen to the muscles. The warm up session also helps steadily increase the heart rate and the body temperature ensuring that the entire process is gradual, and not drastic.

  1. Hydration- the key to exercise success

When you exercise, you lose a lot of fluids from your body in the form of sweat ; you need to replenish these fluids back up to avoid dehydration. Staying hydrated is important to actively perform exercises and maintain general health. Water and other fluids help fuel up your muscles. Thus drinking before, during and post-workout will boost your energy levels.

  1. Exercises should be performed under guidance of professionals

Doing an exercise wrong is worse than not doing it at all. If the right posture is not adopted, one can suffer from severe injuries. Also, not all exercises are made for you; you need professional guidance to decide when and how to correctly perform an exercise.

  1. Proper workout attire

Proper workout attire is not only important to ensure your comfort, but also to prevent injuries and sprains. Choosing the right kind of apparels and footwear that are flexible and breathable is crucial for hassle-free workout sessions.

Preparing for a workout is as important as the workout itself. These things are basic and easy to follow, so pull up your socks people and get ready to rock the workout regime!
